How to Make A Decision When You’re Stuck in Your Head

Woman organizing thoughts on sticky notes while overcoming overthinking and indecision.

You’ve thought about it from every angle.

You’ve made pros and cons lists.

Asked your most sensible friends. (And the most free-spirited ones, for balance.)

You prayed about it.

Googled it.

Journaled on it.

Played out imaginary conversations in the shower.

Drafted seven emails.

Deleted them.

Recovered them from your trash folder to reread them again. You know, just in case.

And somehow… you still can’t decide.

You keep staring at the choices, wondering, why can’t I make a decision?

So now you’re caught in that exhausting, in-between space—stuck in your head with your brain in overdrive—but not actually getting anywhere.

If you’re dealing with overthinking and indecision, you are not alone—especially if you’re a high-functioning woman who’s used to being responsible, capable, and “the one who gets it right.”

A lot of women assume the answer is to think harder.

Get more information.

Wait until they feel 100% sure.

But chronic overthinking doesn’t create clarity. It actually causes more delays.

And delay can feel deceptively productive because your brain convinces you that you’re “working on the problem” when really, you’re just trapped in avoidance.

If you’ve been unable to move forward, this post will help you understand what’s actually happening underneath the mental loops—and how to interrupt the cycle before another month passes with you still sitting in the same spot.

4 Signs You Need A RESET Now

Sometimes it’s not enough to rest. You need a complete RESET.

And I don’t mean going back to bed and giving up until tomorrow. 🙃 I’m talking about my RESET coaching session.

The RESET is a 2-hour coaching intensive where I walk you through my signature five-step process to help you bring your goals into focus and align your priorities with your schedule.

You’ll walk away with a simple plan that will keep you moving forward, fueled by confidence and clarity. (Plus it comes with a fun workbook that you can use over and over again.)

The end of summer is a great time to do a RESET, to set yourself up for the busy fall season. But you don’t have to wait for a special season to reset.

Everyone’s life moves at a different pace. It’s important that you give yourself the support you need, when you need it.

So here are four signs to that it might be time for a RESET.

Signs It’s Time to RESET

Just one of these is a good reason to hit pause…so if all four of these feel familiar you are overdue! 🥴

1. You have a plan, but you’re not following it.

You know what to do. You’ve got the time, opportunity, and resources you need. But you just can’t seem to get yourself to do the thing

You procrastinate. You make excuses. You’re stuck. But you’d rather be moving forward.

2. Life looks way different than when you made your plans.

Sometimes, life comes at you fast. And when things change quickly and drastically, even the best laid plans can become obsolete.

When that happens, don’t bury your head in the sand and pretend like nothing has changed.

Recalibrate, refocus and reset.

3. You’re in constant burnout.

Needing a break is one thing. But living in chronic burnout is another.

And that’s no way to live.

Taking the time to reset can help you find fresh ways to approach your goals, at a pace that you can sustain.

4. You’re not sure you still want the same things.

Maybe you’re in a space where you’re working toward your goals, but you no longer know why. You’re going through the motions, but you’re not sure it even matters.

Listen…you don’t have to wait until everything has fallen apart before you give your life a tuneup.

Taking the time to reset at the first sign of misalignment can help you get back on track before your life drifts too far off course.

3 Hidden Causes for Your Procrastination Problem

The procrastination problem is like an epidemic. It seems to be everywhere, and it feels contagious.

If you delay one task, and you end up falling behind in another. Suddenly, your whole day is off track, which throws off your week, and then your month.

Then one day you look up and realized you’ve been setting the same New Year goal for yourself for the last three years. 🙄

Procrastination is the kind of problem that causes more problems. But often, it’s a symptom of a deeper, less obvious problem, too.
